Ahmedabad to Jaipur High Speed Rail

Zoom through the desert from Ahmedabad to Jaipur in only 1 hour and 50 minutes!

This WEBEO explores the possibilities of high-speed rail in India. It is the first of a series of proposals that will eventually link up the business and government hubs of Delhi and Mumbai.

The second portion, explained in this WEBEO, is a high speed railway line connecting Ahmedabad with Jaipur, Rajastan. Such a line is vital to keep India competitive in the global market; the republic is poised to become the 2nd largest economy by 2040, and its infrastructure has to catch up to the time. While Ahmedabad to Jaipur by itself is not as busy as other routes in India, such a route is vital as a key building block between North and South India, given the number of flights operating daily between the two regions.

A majority of the line parallels the West Banas River, along the existing Western Railway Zone. The railway will be widened to 4 tracks and electrified by overhead wires. Some trains will be non-stop between Ahmedabad and Jaipur, but others will stop in places in between, enhancing the local connectivity of the line and potentially spurring urban development away from the overcrowded cities of western India.

Line length = 587 km
Top Speed = 350 km/h
Travel Time = 1 hr 50 min on nonstop service

Stations (CAPS = ULTRA HIGH-SPEED STOPS): AHMEDABAD CENTRAL, Khodiyar-Gandhinagar, Meshana, Palanpur, Beawar, Ajmer Junction, Gokulpura, JAIPUR.
