London Airport Suburban Rail Link
A new direct connection from the West Coast Main Line to the Airports!
This WEBEO explores the possibilities of constructing a perimeter metro just west of London, the political and financial capital of Great Britain. The city is lacking of any north-south rail link connecting its western suburbs together, and more importantly, lacks any direct rail connection from anywhere other than Central London. This line serves to alleviate these problems by constructing a new railway line branching off the existing West Coast Main Line (which travels all the way up Birmingham, Manchester, and up to Scotland). In addition, this line connects with the western end of many tube lines and serves as a connection between the Midland, Western, South Western, and Southern train systems. Finally, the line connects the two airports of London, Gatwick and Heathrow, together and alleviates any hardships of transferring between the two.
The line is 41 miles long and its top speed is 100 mph (160 km/h). It will be powered by third rail and will use dual mode catenary/third rail trains.
