Florida High Speed Rail
6 May 2016
Travel from Jacksonville to Miami in 2 hours! In this WEBEO, I plan out a high speed line connecting the many larger cities of the sunshine state of Florida. I believe that Florida is a prime candidate for high speed rail due to its flat terrain and high population density, not to mention that most cities line up on a straight path. The line will be electrified, and will parallel Interstate 95, Interstate 4, and the Florida Turnpike. Both ultra high speed and regional high speed trains will serve this route, along with future provisions for fast commuter rail trains in Orlando and Miami. In addition, new stations in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Miami will be constructed, all of which are actually in the center of the cities.
Stations: Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona, Sanford, Central Orlando, South Orlando, Port St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Hillsboro, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami-Government Centre
Line Length = 358 miles (572.8 km)
Top Speed = 350 km/h (218.75 mph)
