Hudson River Tunnel and Bergen Connection
7 November, 2014
A direct connection from Grand Central tracks 38-42 to the existing Northeast Main line, along with a brand new Hudson River Tunnel. The existing tunnel has only 2 tracks, so why not just add some more tracks under the Hudson? The new tunnel will connect Penn Station to the northern New Jersey Lines to Bergen County and Rockland County. It will be the dawn of commuter rail to over a million residents in the area. What's more, with East Side access and the Amtrak connector to Grand Central, Penn Station will be a completely NJ Transit hub. To further enhance this boon, Penn Station will have to be renovated to make a more upscale and appealing station. Finally, Bergen County and Rockland County will get a direct connection to a "brand new" Penn Station on a single train!
