North Carolina High Speed Rail
The North Carolina Crescent: at Hyperspeed!
This WEBEO traverses through the mountains and valleys of North Carolina as I lay out a possible location for a high speed line connecting the cities of Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh. The distance of the line is 173 miles and the top speed is 300 km/h (187.5 mph). As North Carolina continues to grow, new intelligent transportation systems need to be constructed to bring its hubs of business, aviation, and education together into one seamless entity. A diverse mosaic of communities and destinations will be served by the line, to enable easy movement along the Interstate 85 and 40 corridor and spur up new business in this state. In addition, this line can serve as only a portion of what could be an east coast megaline from Boston to Miami, in that this line can connect to Richmond and Atlanta in future extensions.
Stations: Charlotte Airport, Charlotte Central, Newell, Salisbury, Lexington, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham, Raleigh.
