Philadelphia Perimeter Metro
29 April 2016
The perimeter metro meets the City of Brotherly Love!
In this WEBEO, I draw out a possible perimeter metro to the north of Philadelphia, PA, along the old Comrail tracks parallel to Interstate 276. The line will connect King of Prussia in the west with Trenton, NJ in the east. There are several benefits of such types of systems, such as enabling cross-suburb commuting in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia, connecting more communities more directly with the Northeast Corridor, and enabling more starting points for communities not served by either SEPTA or Interstate 276. The only major work that has to be done is to dual the track in certain locations, as much of the right of way only contains one track. Cateneries already exist from the Conrail era, so electrification should not be as costly as otherwise possible.
This is also the start of WEBEO's Season 5, in which I truly record in 1080p at 60 fps (rather than the awkward 810p and 25 fps that I used earlier). I believe that the quality of my WEBEOs is paramount, and such a resolution is more easily scalable to most monitors, not to mention looks clearer as well and shows more minute detail!
