Pittsburgh Urban Railway

10 July, 2015

Season three has Webeo moving West!

In this Webeo, I propose an urban rapid transit line on existing Amtrak tracks between Pittsburgh Union Station and Four Mile Run, via Oakland. Little work will be needed on the line, the majority of it being "twinning" the track between the Oakland tunnel and Four Mile Run. This line will finally connect Oakland and Pittsburgh, respectively the 2nd and 3rd largest downtowns in Pennsylvania based on economic and social activities. In addition, the line will connect to the Northeast Suburbs and will have easy transfer to the Martin Luther King Busway.

Stations are: Pittsburgh Union Station, Strip, Polish Hill, Baum Blvd, Oakland North (in tunnel), Oakland Central, and Four Mile Run.

Line length = 4.2 miles (6.72km) and travel time from Pittsburgh = 7 minutes to Oakland, 10 minutes to Four Mile Run.
