Québec to Montréal High Speed Rail

20 June, 2016

Travel across the French Quarter of Canada in only 50 minutes!

In this WEBEO, I lay out where a possible high speed rail link can be implemented between some of Canada's population centres. This particular WEBEO is linking the cities of Québec and Montréal together in only 50 minutes. High speed rail in Canada is vital in that it is the only G7 nation without any high speed rail whatsoever, and to remain competitive and connected to globalization, Canada's cities need to be more effectively linked together.

This line mostly runs south of the St. Lawrence River, where an existing alignment is located. However, much of this alignment is only a single track and all of it is unelectrified, so work has to be done to get this high-speed ready. However, I believe that the costs will be outweighed by the many economical and environmental benefits as a result of its construction. The top speed of the line is 350 km/h, and there will be both ultra high speed and regional high speed, the latter stopping at all stations listed below:

Stations: Québec Gare du Palais, Saint-Redempteur, Drummondville, Mont Saint-Hilarie, Saint-Hubert, Montréal Gare Centrale
